The Electron Microscopy Unit (EMU) at
Kuwait University,
Faculty of Science is the largest and most comprehensive
facility of its type in Kuwait and one of the best in the
region. It was established in 1976 but on the 2nd of August
1990, the unit was completely damaged by the Iraqi invasion.
After the liberation of Kuwait, the unit was re-established
again.
Currently the unit has expanded its facility by three new
microscopes i.e.
Variable Pressure Field Emission SEM,
Atomic Force Microscope, (AFM/SPM) and
Laser Scanning Confocal Microscope. Besides sample
imaging and analysis, EMU also provides training and
workshops on related topics.
